It helps to deal with Sensory Aspects such as taste ,vision ,hearing ,touch ,smell that are visible and also invisible aspects like vestibular and proprioception , various co – ordinations and praxis – a higher function that helps in planning ability . 

Occupational therapy also helps in learning  disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia etc ) , handwriting issues ( faulty handgrip, poor writing , pencil rotation ) , Cognitive skills that include poor attention span ,problem solving abilities ,inability to identify similar looking alphabets ( m&w , b&d ).

Occupational therapy is especially helpful in Activities of Daily living such as buttoning , zupping , toilet training issues. Also for school going children it helps in classroom problems like copying from board / books , concentration , & taking part in group projects etc.

As a part of multi – professional team OTs help develop skills such as command following and task completion along with reading an writing skills to help school going children improve their performance.

Different approaches such as Sensory Integration Therapy ( SIT ) Neurodevelopmental Therapy ( NDT ) , Cognitive Behavior Therapy are used as a part of Occupational Therapy in children with conditions such as Autism and ADHD to achieve their complete potential with respect to social development as well as functional Independence .
